BAFEF Teaches Financial Literacy to Over 400 Students at Lincoln High School’s Mustang Exchange Day

Bay Area Financial Education Foundation (BAFEF) had the privilege of participating in Lincoln High School’s Mustang Exchange Day, where we had the opportunity to teach essential financial literacy skills to more than 400 students.

Organized by Lincoln High School's Associated Student Body team, Mustang Exchange Day featured a variety of breakout enrichment sessions designed to engage students in diverse learning experiences. From hip-hop dance to cooking classes, the event offered something for everyone. Among the popular sessions were BAFEF’s personal finance classes, which quickly filled up with eager participants.

Our team of eight dedicated volunteers led interactive sessions that covered critical financial topics, including:

  • Basics of Budgeting: Students learned foundational budgeting techniques to manage their finances effectively.

  • Understanding Credit and Debt: We discussed the impact of credit and debt on financial health.

  • Why Credit Scores Matter: Students gained insight into the importance of maintaining a good credit score.

  • Budgeting and Paying for College: Practical advice was provided on how to plan and budget for higher education expenses.

  • A Crash Course on Investing: Students were introduced to the basics of investing and building wealth.

We were thrilled to contribute to this engaging program and see so many students enthusiastic about improving their financial literacy. Events like Mustang Exchange Day are crucial for empowering young people with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions.
